Foundation Donates $8,500 to “Reading For A Purpose”

For the 2016-2017 School Year, the Sheriff’s Foundation of Broward has awarded $8,500 to “Reading For A Purpose”, a part of the character component for the After School @ Your Library and Choose Peace collaborative initiative. This component focuses on the development of an inclusive culture and respectful climate in high crime and high need neighborhoods and schools by addressing issues of bias, name calling bullying and cyberbullying as part of a broader strategy to create safe schools for all students. The Sheriff’s Foundation awards have provided thousands of anti-bias education books and lesson plans for 12 program locations across Broward County. The Sheriff’s Foundation donation is made possible by its Bernard J. Peck Anti-Bullying Fund.
