Recently, we held the first combined educational event of the Sheriff’s Foundation Academy and the Sheriff’s Foundation Classroom – 2015 BSO/SWAT Anti-Terrorism Training Exercise. The impact this experience had on all who participated is best described in the words of one of the Girl Scouts participants:

“More importantly, I cannot tell you what an impact this experience had on my 17-year-old daughter. Her father is a Federal Law Enforcement Officer and both he and I spent time in the military. So we’ve always been VERY much about our Heroes in Uniform. But with today’s headlines screaming in the media, bashing our law enforcement officers and portraying them in such a negative light…it began to color her perception of these officers. After spending four hours observing and participating in the scenario, meeting and speaking with several Team Members…she saw first-hand their dedication to serving and protecting the public, as well as the grim reality of what these officers face on a daily basis. I know this has made an indelible impression on her young mind.”
